It’s summertime and user registration disabled!

After numerous attempt to block spammers from joining our site (which failed!), I decided to disable user registration temporarily until I managed to clog the hole that enables spammers join our site.

If you know someone interested on joining our community, let me know his/her email and desired username so I can manually create an account for him/her.

However if you’re a registered member but not yet applied for free blog, don’t worry because you can create your blog anytime.

Lastly, enjoy your summer holiday and don’t forget your camera!

Recently myshuttr.com has been raided by spammers. It’s not a good news since our website is steadily accepting spammers even though a set of spammer ‘trap’ has been set, like CAPTCHA and simple math question on registration has been implemented. I’ve read that the spammers actually real human who has been paid to do this spam thing. Regardless of that, we tend to fight the spammers and make our community spam-free.

Last two weeks I’ve taken Ibaraki University‘s admission exam and the result will be out this Friday. Actually I will take Chiba University‘s admission exam on the Saturday and Sunday but if I got accepted to Ibaraki University, I will spend some time on improving this site.

Yet another week, yet another update.

This week I’ve made some updates to myshuttr.com. Firstly, introducing community-centered wiki page called Codex. All users are welcome to contribute your knowledge there. All accounts should be able to edit the codex, so don’t worry about that.

I’m glad to announce we have a computer science student with us, @edennoob, to help me maintaining the site. He is assigned to technical section so if you got any problem feel free to ask him. We need more volunteers, especially those who expert at graphic designing.

Third, three themes has been uploaded to our website, and now you have about 20 themes to select on. Yes the number is still increasing. I’ve started a project on bringing our default theme for photoblogging, PhotoBiyori to have some new features such as EXIF details and some cool effects. Stay tuned.

Lastly, don’t forget to feed your cat. That’s all folks!

Feature added: Upload pictures from Picasa

Good day everyone.

For those who have been used WordPress-based blog before, you may found that uploading pictures, both by individually or by mass upload, is kinda pain in the ass. From now on you can use Google Picasa to upload your photo(s) to your blog media gallery.

You need to access your blog’s dashboard and go to Settings > Media. There you can see a button that links Picasa desktop client to your blog. Then you can upload your pictures with breeze!

I’ve tested it personally and it should work with rest of all users. However if you encounter any difficulty on uploading pictures through Picasa, just report your problem in Site Development group.
